January 5th

Finish up those Christmas thank yous.
Adress, stamp and return label your card FIRST, then write it.
It's all too tempting to write a card, then cop-out in sending it by having to make the effort to look for the address.

Often times, thank yous for Christmas cards are actually rude if sent to immediate family. Instead, send thank you cards to people outside your immediate family, or those who shipped gifts to you. Perhaps to neighbors who invited you to a play, even if you couldn't attend, or the gentleman who helped bring your groceries in - thank you cards are most always appreciated!

January 4th

Go load-up on paper Christmas cards for next year - if you send them.
If you want to send photo cards, set-up a few tentative dates for the family to all get together to take a group picture.
Email out 3 suggested dates (Sunday afternoons are often best) to those who use internet.
Write a letter to those family members who may use email, but would prefer a hand-written card.

January 3rd

Go through your Christmas/holiday cards.
Save envelopes and email.
Update your address book with the addresses
...so you're not searching for next year, or getting returned mail
Write a quick email to update others who have your address incorrect
Add email addresses as you notice both snail mail or email that have gone to a
wrong address.
Send your email to update your address - people will appreciate this!

* If you use a paper address book, think about creating a copy to a digital address book such as Outlook - if you have Word on your computer, you probably have Outlook. Here's a link for more information. Click here.
